Answers Before You Call

Every project is different, but a lot of the questions are the same. Here are the ones that come up most. If yours isn’t here, just ask — we’d rather answer it than have you guess.

Estimates & Pricing

Not in our primary service area. For communities in our extended service area — Signal Mountain, Soddy-Daisy, Red Bank, Hixson and north toward Dayton — there’s an $85 trip charge, credited toward your invoice when you book the work.

Usually. The craftsman walks the project with you, builds the estimate on site, and goes through it with you before leaving. Larger or more complicated projects sometimes need more time, and we’ll tell you that before we go rather than leaving you wondering.

See the whole process

By the job, not by the hour. You get a number for the work described, not a rate and a hope. What affects it is scope, materials, and access.

We stop and show you before anything else happens. You get an explanation, the options, and a written change order. Nothing additional gets done without your approval.

The Bucktooth Standard

The price you approve is the price you pay. The only exception is a genuinely concealed condition — something inside a wall, under a floor, or underground that nobody could reasonably have found during the walkthrough. Even then, nothing happens until you’ve approved it in writing.

If you add work or change what you want while we’re there, that gets priced separately and approved before we start it. Same rule either direction — nothing happens without your say-so.

Yes. A deposit reserves your place on the schedule and confirms the work. The rest is laid out in your estimate before you sign anything.

Getting Started

Online or by phone. Booking online lets you pick the slot; calling is easier if the project is hard to describe in a form.

Request an estimate

Yes, and that’s most calls. Describe it however makes sense to you — “there’s a stain on the ceiling,” “the door sticks.” Working out what’s actually going on is our job.

Yes, and it’s usually cheaper. Setup and travel get shared across the whole list instead of repeated for each visit. Bring the list.

If you have them, they help. Not required, and we’ll still want to see it in person for anything beyond a simple swap.

For the estimate, yes — the walkthrough is the point. For the work itself it depends on the project, and we’ll sort that out when we schedule.

It depends on the project and what’s on the calendar. We’ll give you a real answer at the estimate rather than an optimistic one.

Materials & Products

For the things you’re choosing — a ceiling fan, a faucet, tile, a light fixture — yes, and we’d encourage it. That’s your call and your taste. We’ll look at what you’ve bought during the estimate to make sure it fits the space and the existing conditions.

Materials like paint, drywall supplies, and plumbing parts we provide.

If you want. Tell us what you’re trying to accomplish and we’ll narrow it to options that actually work in that spot and that budget, so you’re choosing between three good answers instead of four hundred.

Either of us. If we handle it, materials are included in your estimate.

Same as any scope change — we tell you, price it, and put it in writing before we continue.

Our two-year workmanship warranty covers our installation. The product carries whatever warranty the manufacturer gave it. If something fails, we’ll help you work out which one applies.

Trust & Credentials

Yes. Bucktooth carries insurance, and every craftsman is background-checked before they set foot on a job site.

A Bucktooth craftsman. Not a rotating cast of subcontractors you’ve never met.

Yes — two years on the work we perform. If something we installed or repaired fails because of how we did it, we come back and make it right.

Warranty details

Tell us before we leave. We walk the finished work with you at the end of every project specifically so anything that isn’t right gets caught while we’re still standing there.

Service Area

Cleveland, Ooltewah, Chattanooga, Collegedale, Apison, East Brainerd, Harrison, Georgetown, Charleston, and the surrounding communities. We also serve an extended area.

Ask anyway. Tell us where you are and what you need, and we’ll give you a straight answer either way.

During the Work

Some — it’s construction work, so plan on dust and disruption while we’re there. We take that seriously, and most people tell us afterward it was less than they expected.

Move or secure anything valuable, fragile, or irreplaceable before we start — you know which things those are better than we do. We can move furniture if you’d rather, and it may add a little labor to the estimate.

More on this

We walk it with you before we load up, take the packaging and debris with us, and follow up afterward. Finishing the project is the start of the relationship, not the end of it.

Please do. Most of our work comes from people who called back.
